President and General Counsel
Nathan Smith is president and general counsel for Monument Title Company.
He focuses his practice in the areas of commercial real estate, environmental
and land conservation law.
Nathan is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He received a master's degree from McMaster University and graduated
cum laude with a J.D. from Washington & Lee University. Nathan
is known in the Portland area for his work as president of United Way and
Portland Trails and is a member of the Portland City Counsel.
Previously Nathan was appointed by former Governor Angus King to be a Commissioner of the
Maine State Housing Authority, has been a lecturer at the University of Maine
School of Law and has spoken on numerous public occasions about title
insurance, real estate and environmental law issues.
Nathan is a member of the American Bar Association, Maine State Bar
Association and Cumberland County Bar Association.
